Paul Staib, Principal of Staib Financial Planning, LLC, has earned the Retirement Income Certified Professional® (RICP®) professional designation from The American College of Financial Services, Bryn Mawr, PA.
The RICP® program is designed for financial professionals who already have a broad-based financial planning credential, such as the Certified Financial Planner, or whose businesses already emphasize retirement income planning.
Candidates for the RICP® designation must complete a minimum of three college-level courses and are required to pass a series of two-hour proctored exams. They must also have three years of experience, meet stringent ethics requirements, and participate in The College’s continuing education program.
“After earning the RICP®, I feel even more prepared to help clients with their retirement needs,” said Paul. “Retirement Planning is definitely an area of specialty and expertise for Staib Financial Planning, LLC and one where I know I can add significant value in helping clients navigate the complexities associated with their retirement – enabling them to achieve their personal retirement goals.”
The RICP® contains the most extensive and comprehensive curriculum of any retirement planning specific designation, covering 18 competencies within three courses. The curriculum encompasses strategies and best practices on a wide range of retirement planning topics, including:
- Social Security claiming strategies;
- Evaluating and addressing risks faced in retirement;
- Evaluating and choosing income distribution strategies from available investment accounts;
- Health Care considerations – including Medicare and other health insurance choices;
- Planning for long-term care needs;
- Investment management strategies;
- Income tax planning; and
- Estate and Legacy planning
Using the most current techniques, RICP®s identify retirement income needs and objectives and evaluate a client’s current situation relative to those personal goals. Individuals who earn a RICP® can provide expert advice on a broad range of retirement topics, helping clients navigate the complexities of retirement planning.
